Winter 2009-2010

Through the efforts of dedicated volunteers, the Archives now offers three new indexes online at its website. The indexes are to the County Survey Collection, the Coroner Inquests Collection, and the Naturalization Index. Each of them is keyword searchable. The Survey Collection indexes approximately 1,700 property surveys, primarily in Santa Clara County, made between 1890 and the 1960s by Henry B. Fisher and by his son, Raymond K. Fisher. The Coroner Inquests index provides information about 9,300 inquests made into deaths in Santa Clara County from 1891 to 1932. The Naturalization Index contains the names of 8,000 persons naturalized in Santa Clara County from 1850 to 1934. The Archives does not hold the naturalization records, which are in the custody of the Santa Clara County Superior Court at 191 N. First Street, San Jose. Some of the naturalization records also have been microfilmed, and the microfilm should be available at Family History Centers.
